British Pastimes at Winchester

Friday Afternoon Activities
There was a distinctly British theme to our last afternoon activities today. Some of our students practised their archery with our visiting expert. After an instruction about safety and the basic technique, arrows were flying towards the targets at regular intervals, with a number of impressive scores racked up. Britain has a rich history of bowmanship, with one law of 1541 stating that "All men under the age of 60 years...shall have Bows and Arrows for shooting."
Meanwhile, other groups were enjoying sessions of Chess and badminton. Our Economics and Business Teacher, Mike, is also a dab hand at Chess, and even he was thoroughly impressed by the level of skill on display.
